Corsican Fritillary

Description:
The Corsican Fritillary is a mountain butterfly, found on grassy vegetation in clearings in deciduous woods.
The small caterpillars hatch out in the spring and begin to feed on violets, preferring plants growing under Juneper bushes. Among the food plants mentioned in the literature are various Viola species, such as Wild Pansy (V. tricolor), Yellow Wood Violet (V. biflora), Pale Wood Violet (V. reichenbachiana), and V. corsica.
The Corsican Fritillary has one generation a year.
