Borbo borbonica

(Boisduval, 1833)

Zeller's Skipper

Description:
Zeller's Skipper is mostly seen near the coast in warm, dry places with bushes. These butterflies are good flyers, sometimes showing migratory behaviour.
The caterpillars feed on various grasses. In North Africa, where they also occur, Sorghum halepense and Leersia hexandra are used as food plants.
It is not clear how many generations a year the species has, but it is probably one.

Habitat:
Sclerophyllous scrub
