Habitat

Towns and villages

Towns, villages, and industrial sites are areas arranged for human habitation or industrial activity. They are usually unsuitable for butterflies. However, opportunist species, such as whites and yellows and some nymphalids can be found in gardens and on road verges. The originally African blue, the Geranium Bronze, has specialized on garden geraniums and is now a species of the European fauna, locally abundant in towns and villages where it breeds on the geraniums in the market place and window boxes ( C-86).
