Elban Heath

Description:
The Elban Heath can be found on open, grassy places with scattered bushes, flower-rich woodland clearings, and on scrub or maquis. On warm days, the butterflies are mainly active in the morning and afternoon, remaining hidden in the vegetation in the hottest part of the day.
The caterpillars use various grasses as food plants, in the summer feeding during the day and at night, and in the winter only during the day when it is sunny. In the spring, they pupate low down in the vegetation, suspended from a grass stalk.
The Elban Heath has several generations a year.
