Description:
This grizzled skipper likes flower-rich, grassy vegetation. It occurs on sub-alpine and alpine grasslands as well as on damp, sometimes rough, grassy vegetation.
Various cinquefoils (Potentilla spp.) are used as food plant, including Tormentil (P. erecta), Silverweed (P. anserina), Spring Cinquefoil (P. tabernaemontani), and Creeping Cinquefoil (P. reptans).
This butterfly hibernates in the larval stage and has one generation a year.
