Arctic Woodland Ringlet
Description:
The Arctic Woodland Ringlet is often found on damp grasslands, but it also occurs on dry grasslands and in waste places, often where there is shelter from birches, or Juneper bushes. Unlike the other Lapland ringlets, the Arctic Ringlet (E. disa) and the Lapland Ringlet (E. embla), this species does not occur on peat bogs.
It lays its eggs on Wood Millet (Milium effusum) and Swamp Meadow-grass (Poa palustris). The caterpillars take nearly two years to develop.
Habitat:
Fallow land and waste places
Dry siliceous grasslands
Mesophile grasslands
