Description:
This chalkhill blue has no English name, but from its Latin name, bright blue, can be expected. This is indeed the colour of the upperside of the wings of the males. It is always found on calcareous soil and occurs on short vegetation in sheltered hollows in clearings in coniferous forests. The female lays her eggs on the leaves of Horseshoe Vetch (Hippocrepis comosa).
This butterfly species is single-brooded.
